Today I visited Carmine’s Pizza in Oceanside for lunch, which is located on Highway 101 just south of Mission Ave. Carmine’s set up and interior reminded me of neighborhood pizzerias in the northeast. Especially with Sinatra playing on the radio. They have plenty of seating indoors and the small outdoor patio provides additional seating as well.
Their menu offerings consist of specialty pizza’s, Calzones, salads, pastas and sub sandwiches. Service was friendly and efficient. Carmine’s also offers happy hour specials from 12pm to 5pm and is reasonably priced. 2 slices and a draft beer special for $8.00, 2 slices and soda for $5.00, 6 buffalo wings for $5.00 and their popular spaghetti and meatballs for $ 5.00 are a few. They also have a good selection of draft beer and serve wine as well.
I chose the 2 slices and a Stella beer and an order of Buffalo Wings. I picked 2 slices from the display case, a Pepperoni and Jalapeño and a plain slice. The pizza was classic NY thin crust style and was very good. Dough and sauce was authentic and the cheese to sauce ratio was just right. The beer was great as well as it was served in a frozen mug which is the only way in my opinion.
The Buffalo Wings were unique. They were dry seasoned and baked with no sauce, and served with Ranch dressing. The Wings were quite delicious, especially for $5.00.
I really enjoyed my lunch at Carmine’s. Good food at affordable prices.
