Oceanside is known for so much more than just it’s beaches. Since Beat the Heat, focused on local activities to help you stay cool we are now going to turn our attention to the local food. For this one I enlisted the help of my foodie husband. I have asked him to try a variety of different restaurants close to North Coast Village and provide an honest review of his personal experience. I am thrilled to announce that today will the first of many reviews and recommendations to come. So for all the burger lovers out there this first one’s for you.
Ty’s Burger House
Located on Mission Ave close to Highway 101 in Oceanside. Ty’s Burger House serves up burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads and cold beer. Walk right up to the counter to order, they give you a number and food is brought to your table by the friendly staff.
Burgers come in your choice of 1/3 lb or 1/2 lb patties and are accompanied with quality ingredients. They offer a selection of specialty burger creations. The most popular are the Bacon and Bleu Cheese and Jalapeño burgers. You can also customize your own burger. Just be sure to mention how you like your burgers cooked when you order (which I forgot to do) or you will end up with a well done burger. I ordered the 1/2 lb Bacon and Blue Burger. Right away I could tell the burger was made from premium quality meat. The ratio of blue cheese and bacon was so perfect that I did not use any ketchup on my burger. You can add French Fries to your burger for an extra $2.15, which I did. They were very good, hot and crispy.
They have some indoor seating with additional tables set up outside both in front on Mission Ave and in the courtyard out back. Ty’s Burger House is definitely worth giving another try. I look forward to going back and getting one of the Jalapeño Burgers, medium-rare, with a side of sweet potato fries. Give Ty’s Burger House a try and let us know what you think.
