Tin Fish

Josh’s Foodie Files is back with another restaurant review for guests staying at the beautiful North Coast Village located in Oceanside, California.   If this is your first introduction to the Oceanside restaurant scene, be sure to check out Josh’s previous reviews of Ty’s Burger House and Sunshine Poke & Sushi Rolls.
Tin Fish has one of the best locations in Oceanside.  It is almost literally on the beach, located at the base of the Oceanside Pier.  There is no designated parking but there is street parking and a parking lot across the street.
The restaurant is set up food court style where you order at one window and pick up your food at another window when your name is called.  Their menu offers a wide variety of choices from breakfast to Fish, chicken, Big burgers, Tacos, sandwiches, salads, and Açaí bowls so there is something for everyone.
Their most popular items are grilled plates, the Big burger, Tacos, Fish and Chips and combos.  I ordered the special that day, which was the Fried Fisherman’s platter.  It was Halibut, Shrimp, and Scallops and it came with French fries and Cole slaw.
Everything was fresh, and as you can see cooked perfectly.  The seafood was not battered but instead had a nice breading.  I preferred the Halibut and Shrimp over the Scallops.  The fries were waffle cut, tasty and plenty for one.  I thought the cole slaw was outstanding.  It was a vinegar based slaw and the only problem was it was served in what seemed like a 1 oz cup.  I would rather have more cole slaw then the large of fries.
There is a good amount of seating and they have a well stocked fixins bar area with a variety of condiments and utensils.  Tin Fish is a great causal and affordable place to eat right on the beach.
Go check out Tin Fish for yourself and then come back and let us know what you thought.
